Putin, Erdogan meet to discuss Turkey’s Syria invasion

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is in Russia to meet President Vladimir Putin to discuss Ankara’s military incursion into northern Syria.

The meeting on Tuesday comes as as a deadline by Turkey for Kurdish militants to withdraw from Syria’s northern border areas draws closer.

A Kremlin statement said the two leaders would exchange views on the “developments in Syria, including the normalization of the situation in the country’s northeastern regions.”

The two leaders would also discuss “countering international terrorist groups and promoting the political settlement process, including in the context of the upcoming launch of the Syrian Constitutional Committee.”
