US offer to help Iran with coronavirus strange: Leader

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei has described as “strange” America’s offer to help Iran with its coronavirus fight, noting that Washington can’t help others while facing a crisis at home and standing accused of creating the deadly pathogen.

Speaking to the Iranian nation in a televised speech on Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei said the United States needed to clarify its role in the spread of the virus before it could be trusted to help other countries.

He said if such accusations are true, then Washington could use its offer for help to sneak in medicine that could sustain the virus’ effects and even further spread it.

The American government could even send doctors who would use their cover to collect knowledge on the extent of the outbreak in Iran and send back that information that plan a more damaging plot against the Islamic Republic.

“Several times Americans have offered to help Iran to contain the virus. Aside from the fact that there are suspicions about this virus being created by America … their offer is strange since they face shortages in their fight against the virus,” said Khamenei in a televised speech.

“Iran has the capability to overcome any kind of crisis including coronavirus outbreak.”

He noted that the US remained Iran’s biggest enemy.

“Iran has numerous enemies but the most evil enemy of the Iranian nation is the US,” the Leader said. “American officials are mendacious, deceitful, shameless and greedy. They are all kinds of charlatans who speak like charlatans. They are cruel, merciless, and terrorist.”

Ayatollah Khamenei praised the nation for resisting Washington’s hostility over the past four decades, noting that the nation can overcome enemies through patience, bravery, and wisdom.

“Being patient means not to surrender,” he stressed.
